On Saturday April 27, 2013, Evone and I had just returned home from a trip to Utah to visit family. We were excited to get home to see if there was a certain envelope from Salt Lake City waiting for us. To our delight, there was. We received our mission call to serve in the Chile Rancagua Mission as Perpetual Education Fund Self Reliance missionaries. We of course were thrilled at this news. Rancagua Chile is about 150 miles from Mendoza Argentina where I served as a young missionary 40 years ago. We will enter the Mission Training Center (MTC) in Provo, Utah on Monday, July 22nd. After 10 days of training, we will fly to Chile on August 1, where we will spend the next 18 months of our lives serving the Lord and the wonderful people of Chile.
Over the last 6-7 weeks we have been busy studying Spanish, Preach My Gospel manual, finishing medical requirement, immunizations, shopping for everything we will need take with us, and getting everything finished in terms of taking care of our home while we will be gone.
We are so grateful for our wonderful children and their families and their love and support as we embark on this wonderful opportunity to serve. We are also grateful for our extended families and wonderful friends from all around the country.
We will post pictures and stories of our experiences over the next 18 months. STAY TUNED!
